About the Artist
Jean Keller is a contemporary realist; known mainly for her seascapes, skyscapes, and other coastal related imagery. Her love for the sea and big sky comes from growing up on a barrier island – just blocks from the sandy beach in Cape May County, NJ. An actual “Jersey girl”, Jean dives into the visceral memories of her youth and paints from the experience of sand, salt air and sun. Her goal of light and presence is often felt in her work. She currently lives and works in Bristol, Rhode Island — steps from the water.
After an award-winning career in advertising design, Jean is now using her keenly developed eye for design, visual dynamics, and color when she paints.
“I consider myself a studio artist, but I spend as much time as possible outside — walking the beach, or chasing sunsets — filling my senses with visual information and awe. I often shoot video and still reference images to jog my memory with the emotion of the moment.”
